Biography

Surv. Callistus Tengan (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Building Technology. He has academic and professional qualifications in Quantity Surveying and Construction Technology. He holds a PhD from the University of Johannesburg in the area of Civil Engineering, an MPhil in Construction Technology from the University of Education, Winneba and a BSc in Building Technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi. Dr. Tengan is also a professional member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (MGhIS). He has over 13 years of academic and professional experience. He has considerable years of experience in academic administration and leadership, having served as the Head of the Civil Engineering and Building Technology Departments for the last four years. As a professional quantity surveyor, he has administered contracts; prepared Bills of Quantities (BoQ), tender documentation, tender opening / selection of suitable contractors and award of contracts. He has also supervised the construction of various educational, healthcare, and residential buildings.

At the Bolgatanga Technical University, he has taught and examined various undergraduate courses (HND levels), such as Building Measurement, Building Estimation, Construction Technology, and Research Methods.

His research work, largely focused on project management, engineering education, and construction project performance measurement, i.e. monitoring and evaluation of projects. His research publications have appeared in various reputable journals such as the African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (Tylor & Francis), International Journal of Construction Management (Tylor & Francis); Procedia Engineering  (Science direct); Architectural Engineering and Design Management (Tylor & Francis); Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing (Springer): Int. J. of Productivity and Quality Management (Inderscience) and the Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology (Emerald).
